The Hollywood Reporter has our first look at Mattel’s first two San Diego Comic-Con exclusive announcements. The first is a Hot Wheels DC Superman Action Comics #1, based on the 1938 comic. This set will retail for $20.
The second one is a DC Comics Multiverse Aquaman Between Two Dooms Figures 3-Pack, based on an Aquaman cover from the early 60’s. The 3-pack will include Aquaman, Ocean Master, and Black Manta in the DC Multiverse/DC Universe classic style. Aquaman comes with nothing, but the figure itself, while Ocean Master comes with his signature cape, mask, and a spear weapon, and Black Manta comes with friction-fit eyepieces, a backpack, and harpoon. It will retail for $60.
No word on how limited these will be, but rest assured they will be hard to get.
Mattel, the largest toy company in the world, was founded in 1945. It produces a huge range of dolls, toys, games, and video games for boys and girls of all ages. In addition to the company’s very-well-known lines like Barbie and Hot Wheels, Mattel also provides merchandise under license to some of the world’s most famous properties. Many of the firm’s products have become a part of our culture and one would be hard pressed to find any adult in this country who has not owned, played with, or at least touched one of Mattel’s myriad of toys.
