You might find a new way to display something, or maybe even see something you did not know existed!

Today’s focus is on the collection of Michael Knight. Michael like the majority of our past spotlighted collectors, is a huge Batman Classic TV show fan, and you can tell from his superb collection. Mr. Knight has the ultimate collectible for any Bat-fan, a replica Batmobile in his collection! This is seriously one fantastic collection to look through, and I hope you enjoy the photos that go along with this article.

DCCollectors: How did you get into collecting DC toys and what was your first DC toy/collectible?

Michael Knight: It had to be Batman, mostly due to the Batman TV show, then that led into the comic books. Of course that led into collecting the toys. But my first has got to be the Corgi Batmobile/Boat combo pack.

DCCollectors: How many pieces are in your collection?

Michael Knight:  Best guess? Over 1000. I started collecting with in the early 70’s, and I have sold stuff (had to thin the herd due to room) and added since. It has gone from purchasing toys and comics to full life size items, original artwork, screen used props, costumes and more. Just recently we added a full size working Batboat replica, to go with our Batmobile.

DCCollectors: If you could only choose one item to keep, which one would it be?

Michael Knight: Only one item? Wow, that’s tough. I don’t know that i could… That’s not right! Next question!

DCCollectors: What is the one item that you really want to add to your collection?

Michael Knight: That is an easy one, something owned or used by Adam West. Someday!!!

DCCollectors: What piece of advice do you have for those just starting their collections?

Michael Knight:  At the end of the day you’re really the only one who has to love it, care for it, cherish it, and enjoy it. Do it for yourself. I have met many a “collector” who has that mentality of get rich quick. Trust me, you’re just gonna use up space in your home and go broke. Sure you may strike lightning once in a while and get some fast cash, but those items are few and far between. The word “rare” and collectible are thrown out way to much, giving people the wrong idea. Do this cause it gives you enjoyment, not for the “golden” opportunity down the road. A Picasso is rare, a Ben Cooper Batman kids costume is not so much.

DCCollectors: Do you have an interesting story regarding the collection, such as meeting someone famous while shopping for your toys, or a super deal you got on something? Something along those lines.

Michael Knight:  You would think, with over 40 years collecting I would have one, but I am sorry to say that I don’t. This hobby has lead me to meet LOTS of wonderful people, celebrities and regular folk. Honestly I can’t pinpoint a special moment or story. Don’t get me wrong, there have been many special moments (maybe too many to make one stand out) that are near and dear to me.

SPOTLIGHT: The Collection of Alex Padeo

DC Universe Classics Collection of Alex Padeo

Welcome to the DCCollectors collection spotlight, where we showcase one of your DC-themed collections! Whether it is a fan just starting out with a small collection, to some of the largest collections in the world, there is always something you can learn from looking at other’s collections. You might find a new way to display something, or maybe even see something you did not know existed!

Today’s focus is on the collection of Alex Padeo.  I first met Alex on the Facebook group, DC Universe Classics Collectors. Alex is a DC Universe Classics/DC Multiverse super fan. From the looks of his collection below, he has just about every figure made in both lines to this point. His passion for these action figures is incredible, and it shows in this excellent collection!

Check out more about Alex and his collection below!

DCCollectors: How did you get into collecting DC toys and what was your first DC toy/collectible?

Alex Padeo: My father has liked comic books since he was a child. Since I have always spent a lot of time reading and buying the DC animated series or movies (like Batman: The Animated Series or Justice League Unlimited). Due to this, from a very young age, I was interested in DC super-heroes. The first DC Comics figure that my father and I purchased was the Martian Manhunter detective from the Batman: Brave and the Bold series, and from that moment on our collection started. Of course the DC Universe Classics line is our favorite.

DCCollectors: How many pieces are in your collection?

Alex Padeo:  I currently have 315 pieces that are mostly Mattel figures (DC Universe Classics and DC Multiverse.)

DCCollectors: If you could only choose one item to keep, which one would it be?

Alex Padeo: It is very difficult to think of a single figure to keep among them all, but the Lobo figure, exclusive to San Diego Comic-Con, is one of my favorites, due to the time that it cost me to get it complete. It took me two years to find Lobo’s Dawg, after getting the base figure.

DCCollectors: What is the one item that you really want to add to your collection?

Alex Padeo:  I feel that my collection will never be complete, Mattel is releasing new figures each year that interest me, but I would love to have a figure that is quite difficult to get at good price in my country. That figure is Bane.

On the other hand, I’m still waiting for Mattel to make a figure of Vandal Savage and The Ventriloquist. PLEASE MATTEL THOSE CHARACTERS ARE GREAT!!

DCCollectors: What piece of advice do you have for those just starting their collections?

Alex Padeo:  I would say that each year the figures of this collection in particular, get more rare to find and likewise increase in price. You must not despair, but with much patience, expect to wait it out and find these at the possible prices.

DCCollectors: Do you have an interesting story regarding the collection, such as meeting someone famous while shopping for your toys, or a super deal you got on something? Something along those lines.

Alex Padeo:  Each figure in my collection has a particular story, some more interesting than others. To start, use your mobile phone, it is often a device that is not available to other people. This makes auctions a good option for finding figures.

The collection of Greg Rangel

Welcome to the DCCollectors collection spotlight, where we showcase one of your DC-themed collections! Whether it is a fan just starting out with a small collection, to some of the largest collections in the world, there is always something you can learn from looking at other’s collections. You might find a new way to display something, or maybe even see something you did not know existed!

Today’s focus is on the collection of Greg Rangel.  Greg has a nice collection of DC Comics Imaginext collectibles from Fisher-Price. He enjoys collecting these with his kids, and I can just imagine that the kids adore him for his dedication in searching out all of them!

Check out more about Greg and his collection below!

DCCollectors: How did you get into collecting DC toys and what was your first DC toy/collectible?

Greg Rangel: I have been collecting DC toys, specifically the Imaginext line for about three years now.

DCCollectors: How many pieces are in your collection?

Greg Rangel:  I honestly have no idea how many pieces are in our collection. It is probably easily a few hundred.

DCCollectors: If you could only choose one item to keep, which one would it be?

Greg Rangel: If I could only choose one to keep it would have to be the Batman robot. Only because my kids absolutely love playing with it and their smiles are why I love collecting.

DCCollectors: What is the one item that you really want to add to your collection?

Greg Rangel:  I am currently hunting for the two Imaginext DC female packs that have only been released in the United Kingdom.

DCCollectors: What piece of advice do you have for those just starting their collections?

Greg Rangel:  I would tell any new collector to have patience, because almost all toys will eventually make it to your area. Some collectors pay outrageous prices to have items as soon as they come out. If you just give it a month or two you will find it at retail.

DCCollectors: Do you have an interesting story regarding the collection, such as meeting someone famous while shopping for your toys, or a super deal you got on something? Something along those lines.

Greg Rangel:  The best deal that comes to mind was one I recently acquired in a trade. My boys and I were dying to get our hands on an Imaginext series 1 Red Hood. As much as we wanted it, I just couldn’t bring myself to pay the $50 it was going for on eBay. When the Ninja Batman figures came out I was able to grab two packs on a random trip to the store. I posted that I had an extra pack to trade on one of the Imaginext Facebook pages, and an extremely kind woman offered to trade a sealed series 1 Redwood for the extra pack I had purchased. The Red Hood is the jewel in our collection.

DCCollectors: How did you get into collecting DC toys and what was your first DC toy/collectible?

Scott Day: I’ve always been a massive DC fan since I was a child, then when I got older and Smallville came out my passion for Superman and DC really took off. I started with just a few DC Collectible figures on a shelf and over several years it’s become a whole room. My first collectible was the new 52 Superman figure.

DCCollectors: How many pieces are in your collection?

Scott Day:  It’s hard to say how many items are in my collection, but I’ve managed to fill an entire room. I wouldn’t know where to begin counting!

DCCollectors: If you could only choose one item to keep, which one would it be?

Scott Day: If I could choose one item to keep it probably would be my Superman Kotobukiya figure, It was the first really expensive statue a bought.

DCCollectors: What is the one item that you really want to add to your collection?

Scott Day:  The one item I would love to add to my collection would probably be the black suit Superman Hot Toys figure. Probably the most realistic figure you can get, but extremely expensive.

DCCollectors: What piece of advice do you have for those just starting their collections?

Scott Day:  The biggest peice of advice for new collectors would be to look about and be patient, Set notifications on auction sites and look regularly. There can be bargains and rare collectibles to be found if you look hard enough.

DCCollectors: Do you have an interesting story regarding the collection, such as meeting someone famous while shopping for your toys, or a super deal you got on something? Something along those lines.

Scott Day:  I have been extremely lucky to have won a few social media competitions, some with prizes I couldn’t have afforded to buy myself. One of the biggest and most treasured items I’ve won is the limited edition Police Justice League watch. Proudly on display and never worn.
