James Gunn to Write Suicide Squad Sequel

Published

on

Yesterday several outlets claimed that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn had be signed by Warner Bros. to write and possibly direct the sequel to the 2016 film. Today’s episode of DC Daily confirmed the news as official!

“It’s official that we have got a new member of the DC family: acclaimed writer/director James Gunn has been attached to write Suicide Squad 2,” said host Tiffany Smith. “Gunn is poised to bring a completely fresh take to the franchise after the first film was written and directed by David Ayer.”

While the show didn’t confirm that he would be directing the film, various Hollywood outlets are stating that he is in negotiations to direct as well.

The sequel is said to be a soft reboot (think G.I. Joe: Retaliation). This non/semi-sequel will reportedly also star familiar characters like Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Killer Croc, Captain Boomerang, and the Joker.

As always, leave your thoughts in the appropriate places!
