In a brand-new video released on the official Mondo YouTube channel, Senior Creative Directors Hector Arce and Peter Santa-Maria (better known to the art world as Attack Peter) and sculptor Alex Brewer gave fans an exhaustive look at the highly anticipated Mondo Superman: The Animated Series 1/6 scale figure.

As Mondo continues to dominate the high-end animation collectible market, this release marks a move from the shadows of Gotham into the bright, Art Deco light of Metropolis.

A Closer Look at the Man of Steel

During the deep-dive video, Arce and Santa-Maria showcased the incredible engineering required to translate Bruce Timm’s iconic, top-heavy design into a stable, poseable 12-inch figure. The figure captures the “thick” aesthetic of the 1996 series, broad shoulders, a massive chest, and that unmistakable lantern jaw.

Collectors can expect a wealth of accessories that celebrate the show’s best moments:

• Multiple Portraits: Including a classic neutral expression, a determined “heat vision” head, and a rare smiling portrait that captures the charm of Tim Daly’s voice performance.
• Swappable Hands: Featuring fists, flight hands, and a right hand holding Doctor Fate’s helmet from the fan-favorite episode “The Hand of Fate.”

The Legacy of Superman: The Animated Series

Superman: The Animated Series (STAS) debuted on September 6, 1996. It faced the impossible task of following the critically acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series. However, producers Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, and Alan Burnett didn’t just replicate the Dark Knight’s formula.

They created a “Raygun Gothic” world. It was a futuristic vision of the 1940s, that felt both nostalgic and ahead of its time. STAS gave us the definitive modern versions of Lex Luthor (voiced by Clancy Brown) and introduced the world to the terrifying threat of Darkseid and the New Gods. It effectively built the foundation for what would become the Justice League.

Pricing and Availability

The Mondo Superman: The Animated Series figure is priced at $250 for the Limited Edition, which is restricted to a narrow release window. A regular edition is also available for $235. Given how quickly previous releases like Batman and Clayface sold out, DC collectors are encouraged to act fast.

The figure is expected to begin shipping in late 2026.
