With Mattel officially reclaiming the global toy license, anticipation has been sky-high to see how the legendary toy maker would innovate for a new generation of fans. Today, we have an update to several articles featuring a first look at a wave of official product images for the upcoming Mattel DC Premier action figures lineup. These showcase the spectacular new 6.5-inch figures loaded with dynamic, interactive features.

These leaked images give fans an up-close look at the figures. They blend high articulation with a nostalgic, customizable play mechanic.

The Return of the Accessory Sprue: Build Your Armor

The coolest thing across these new Mattel DC action figures is the inclusion of plastic accessory sprues, a brilliant design choice that echoes classic model kits and vintage action figure weapon packs. Instead of loose accessories, Mattel is packaging these figures with a full runner of modular gear that allows fans to customize their figures straight out of the box.

Let’s dive into the specific character breakdowns revealed in this stunning batch of official images.

Green Lantern (John Stewart)

We have an official description here. The fan-favorite architect and veteran Marine gets a spectacular 6.5-inch release. John Stewart is famous for his precise, structural constructs, and Mattel has honored that legacy perfectly.

  • The Figure: A highly detailed sculpt featuring his iconic green and black Star Sapphire/Corps uniform with bright green detailing and a bold chest emblem.
  • The Sprue: An entire runner molded in vibrant, translucent green plastic. It includes a modular chest armor piece, a back plate, shoulder guards, oversized heavy-duty forearm gauntlets, and two distinct sci-fi energy blasters.

Superman (The Man of Steel)

Superman stands tall in his classic red, blue, and yellow trunks look, sporting a heroic sculpt and a flowing fabric cape.

  • The Figure: Featuring an incredibly sharp head sculpt that captures Clark Kent’s signature determination.
  • The Sprue: To capture his classic battles against elite power dampeners, Superman comes with a metallic silver-grey runner. This sprue includes high-tech Kryptonian battle armor plates (complete with an embossed “S” shield on the chest piece), heavy metallic forearm gauntlets, and a breakable “Kryptonite chain” accessory to recreate epic breakout scenes.

Batman (The Caped Crusader)

You can’t launch a DC line without the Dark Knight, and Mattel is delivering a sleek, tactical rendition.

  • The Figure: Dressed in a modern black suit with a gold-bordered Bat-symbol and a matching gold utility belt, complemented by a premium fabric cape.
  • The Sprue: Batman includes an impressive dual-sprue system. The first is a large neon-blue structure frame. The second is a brilliant gold runner loaded with tactical gear, featuring multiple Batarangs, specialized utility belt gadgets, tracking devices, and his signature grapple launcher.

The Jokerized Batman Variant

Easily the most chaotic and exciting reveal in the batch is a specialized, purple-suited Batman variant completely corrupted by The Joker’s aesthetic.

  • The Figure: Sporting a lime-green Bat-symbol, neon green stitching details across the suit, and a horrifyingly wide, red-lipped Joker grin painted over the cowl.
  • The Sprue: Molded in a toxic, glow-in-the-dark pale green plastic. This massive runner features giant comic-style boxing gloves, a “Kryptonite Repellant” containment sphere, spiked armor attachments, and twisted Batarangs.
  • Bonus Inclusions: This figure also features three swappable alternate faceplates, allowing fans to “Jokerize” other heroes with terrifying, pale-skinned grins.

Man-Bat, Nightwing, and Blue Suit Batman Multipack

Rounding out the major visual updates is a look at a heroic multi-pack or companion wave. We first shared details for this last week. This image highlights a massive, beautifully sculpted Man-Bat figure with fully extended wings and tattered fabric trousers. He is flanked by a classic blue-and-grey variant of Batman with a yellow utility belt, alongside a sleek, modern Nightwing sporting his iconic red-and-black insignias.

What This Means For Collectors

These new Mattel DCaction figures are hitting a highly competitive sweet spot. While adult-targeted collector lines are slated for a massive push later, this Premier “Core” (I hope Mattel can soon clarify these labels) ecosystem bridges the gap perfectly. Boasting 22 points of articulation, fabric capes, and highly interactive modular armor sprues, Mattel is prioritizing pure playability and shelf presence without sacrificing the classic comic aesthetics that long-time fans demand.

Furthermore, these figures are built around Mattel’s innovative “Bat-Link” ecosystem, meaning these weapons, shields, and armor pieces will be fully cross-compatible with upcoming vehicles and playsets.

  1. Please make characters that don’t get much love. I’m a HUGE Superman fan. I have every superman figure from 80s until now. I’m fine with a few superman figs. How about Toyman? Clark Kent? Bruce Wayne? El Dorado? Samurai? Wonder Twins?

    1. Crossing my fingers for more than just Batman lol.

  2. Yes, … A Clark Kent, …Bruce Wayne… Alfred… Lois Lane …would be very welcome.!!

    1. Those would be ideal too. At least MAFEX is doing a Bruce and Clark. Though, those are rather pricey.
